Are programs for fall 2020 and winter and spring 2021 still running?

  • Due to public health concerns, the University of California Education Abroad Program has made the decision to suspend fall-term 2020 and yearlong programs beginning in fall 2020 in all locations. As of Aug. 13, all winter quarter programs scheduled to begin before March 15, 2021, have been suspended, as well. Affected students have already been emailed by the UCEAP Systemwide Office and the UCLA International Education Office.
  • Programs with start dates after March 15, 2021, are still scheduled to run. Applicants to these programs have been notified that their program has not been suspended via email. Decisions on suspension of these programs would likely come sometime in fall quarter, when there is more up-to-date information about the COVID-19 situation.
  • In the meantime, the IEO recommends applicants to programs that are still scheduled to run consider back-up options both for study abroad plans and for spring 2021 classes at UCLA, and also that students wait to purchase plane tickets until they have more program information.
  • The international education office has a COVID-19 FAQ with more information.
