Commencement: Classes of 2020 and 2021

While UCLA was able to provide many students and their families with limited in-person spring 2021 graduation events at Drake Stadium and the Los Angeles Tennis Center, we will also be hosting several in-person, indoor commencement ceremonies this fall for both the class of 2021 and the class of 2020.

Fall commencement activities

Members of these classes who earned bachelor’s or master’s degrees from the College of Letters and Science, the International Institute, the Herb Alpert School of Music, the Samueli School of Engineering, the School of Nursing (class of 2020 only) or the School of Theater, Film and Television will have the opportunity to participate in formal on-campus commencement events taking place between September and November — whether they attended spring 2021 commencement activities or not. (For information on schools not mentioned above, please contact the offices of that school directly.)

For those who will be unable to participate in these fall ceremonies, or who would prefer to participate at another time, an additional commencement ceremony is being planned for June 2022. Information on that event will be available in January 2022.

Fall ceremonies will take place at Royce Hall, and each graduate will be provided tickets for up to four guests. All attendees, including graduates, must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test in the 72 hours preceding the event, whether they are vaccinated or not. Masking requirements and physical distancing precautions will also be in place.

Graduates will have their names read aloud, will have their picture taken by a professional photographer as they proceed across the stage (while masked) and will have a second picture taken outdoors (unmasked). The ceremonies will also be livestreamed.

Ceremony dates are listed below. For specific details on the ceremonies, visit the class of 2020 commencement site and the class of 2021 commencement site, as well as UCLA’s general commencement site.
