UCLA COVID-19 and flu vaccines Dec. 1 deadline reminder

Infectious Diseases Management Team

Dear Bruin Community:

In order to help reduce the likelihood of COVID-19 complications for yourself or spreading it to your family, friends or colleagues, the Infectious Diseases Management Team would like to remind the campus community of UC’s Policy on Vaccination Programs and the upcoming UCLA vaccination deadlines. This is particularly important as we approach the holiday season where travel and large gatherings provide more opportunities for the virus to spread.

UC vaccine policy requirements

In accordance with this policy and as communicated in a previous BruinPost, UCLA students, staff and faculty are required to self-attest to being up to date with COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) vaccinations, or affirmatively decline vaccinations by Dec. 1, 2023.* These steps can be taken in the UCLA COVID-19 Action Center.

*Please note that incoming students and new employees will have different deadlines in accordance with the policy. For UCLA Extension students, these vaccine policy deadlines apply to only those in concurrent enrollment.

Those who work in UCLA Health clinical areas (including medical, dental and nursing clinics) will receive communications directly from UCLA Health regarding vaccination protocols.

Please take the following steps no later than Dec. 1, 2023:

  • Click on the button “COVID-19 Vaccine Verification” or “Flu Vaccine Verification”
  • Select your UCLA affiliation
  • Enter your Single Sign-On login credentials and follow the prompts
  • Complete these steps for both vaccines

Thank you to those who have already received and reported their vaccinations through this process.

Where to get vaccinated

There are a number of federal, state and local COVID-19 vaccine resources available to the public. Please refer to the LACDPH COVID-19 Vaccines website for a list of locations and options.

  • Faculty and staff: Make COVID-19 and influenza (flu) vaccine appointments through a medical provider, pharmacy, clinic, or at a public vaccination site. Please visit the UCLA Vaccinations page for more information about where to get vaccinated.

Flu vaccine vouchers

UC employee and student health plans cover flu vaccination without copays. Employees may also obtain a free flu vaccine voucher (PDF) valid at CVS and Target pharmacies. Employees may take up to four hours of paid administrative leave if a vaccination appointment is scheduled during their normal work hours. (Departments may request documentation verifying vaccination appointments from employees who request paid administrative leave.)

As we embark on the holiday season, we want to remind everyone of important health and safety measures: wash your hands frequently, wear masks in crowded settings and, most importantly, stay home if you’re not feeling well. We wish you all a safe and joyous Thanksgiving break.

Sincerely,

Tim Groeling
